Hexadecimal numbers are numbers based on 0-F or 0-15 for a total of 16 numbers. Normally numbers we know are base 10, or from 1-10. The reason that it uses 0-9 and A-F is because the total of 16 is 2 to the 8th power or 4 bits, which is half a byte, also called a nybble. This coding is a clear way to show computer values.
